USAF News Distribution System

 

Harris Corporation will be working with Snader & Associates to provide the United States Air Force with news distribution systems that will deliver breaking news to 10 military bases in Europe and Asia. Harris was chosen by Snader to provide Breakaway News Systems to the Air Force News Agency Services (AFNEWS).

The Air Force News Agency, headquartered in San Antonio, communicates news, information and entertainment through print and electronic media to Air Force and Army military and civilian members assigned to locations worldwide.

Once deployed, the Harris® Breakaway News Systems — featuring Harris® NEXIO™ servers as well as routing systems, software and processing gear — will allow the U.S. Air Force to provide breaking news to bases in the Azores, Turkey, Italy, Germany and Japan. 

NEXIO™ is Harris Corporation’s scalable, interoperable server platform. It’s a highly integrated family of products that employs open standards designed to greatly accelerate time-to-air and dramatically reduce the costs associated with content acquisition, production, distribution and media management.  As a replacement for videotape recorders, NEXIO™ servers provide real-time I/O, network interfaces, ingest, playout and FTP capabilities all within a single chassis.
